Ohyewakomem (Ohyem)
Deep Down
Identity & story.
Ohyem (Ohyewakomem Masquerade Club) is a Sekondi–Takoradi-based masquerade club dedicated to promoting Ankos culture through music, dance, creativity, discipline and community participation. The club brings members together during the Christmas and Ankos season through rehearsals, street performances, processions, cultural displays and other organised activities. Ohyem represents unity, identity and pride in the masquerade tradition of Sekondi–Takoradi.
Ohyem has grown over the years from a group of passionate masquerade enthusiasts into an organised club with a strong presence within the Sekondi–Takoradi Ankos community. The club’s journey has been shaped by consistency, sacrifice, teamwork and a commitment to preserving and promoting masquerade culture. Over its first decade, Ohyem has continued to develop its membership, organisation, performances and public identity while remaining connected to the traditions that make Ankos an important part of Christmas celebrations in Sekondi–Takoradi.
New applicants can join the club without creating a Taadi360 account. Existing applicants and members can separately check their application or membership status.
